In this dynamic, hands-on role, youll both lead survey teams and conduct independent fieldwork, providing critical survey data that supports pipeline routing, construction, and infrastructure development. You'll play a key role in ensuring the safety, accuracy, and efficiency of every projectwhile helping mentor and develop junior survey team members.

What Youll Do as Pipeline Survey Party Chief

  • Ability to route pipelines effectively based on requirements.
  • Ensure crew safety with training, safety meetings, and JSAs enforcement.
  • Lead and mentor field survey staff, fostering high performance and continuous skill development.
  • Direct field staff during pipeline survey operations, ensuring industry and regulatory compliance.
  • Use GPS, drones, and survey instruments to gather topographic and boundary data for pipelines.
  • Conduct surveys to establish the centerline, right-of-way, and easement limits for pipelines.
  • Document the exact location of installed pipelines and facilities for records and regulatory compliance.
  • Mark the location of pipeline features, such as trench lines, bore pits, valve sites, and property boundaries.
  • Verify that field data is accurate and complete before it is turned over to office staff for processing.
  • Coordinate with project managers, land surveyors, and clients about progress, changes, or site challenges.
  • Track and document crew timesheets, vehicle use, and equipment condition to optimize daily operations.

Hourly Range $40.00 to $44.00

Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications/education, and other factors. The salary range is not necessarily reflective of the actual total compensation that may be earned nor promises any specific pay for any specific employee. Requirements

What You Bring, Your Expertise as Pipeline Survey Party Chief

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree of applied Science in Surveying, Geomatics or related degree preferred
  • Certification in Pipeline Locating a plus
  • 3 plus years of experience as a Pipeline Survey Party Chief
  • Proven knowledge of requirements of pipeline construction and constructability constraints.
  • Experience with Leica GPS, Scanning, and Total Station systems preferred.

  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and drive a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to travel on a regular basis to project sites located throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk and traverse uneven grounds
  • Able to work in physically challenging outdoor environments in all types of weather.
