    DISTRICT OVERVIEW:

    Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,900 staff members, serving approximately 13,300 students pre-K post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center in the school district. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $175 million, with a state funding of $9,608 per pupil.

    FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Work directly for the supervisor of Maintenance.
    2. Must have a thorough working knowledge of boilers and boiler systems, electrical and electrical systems, air conditioning and air conditioning systems, and plumbing and plumbing systems.
    3. Must have experience and ability to organize and direct the work of others.
    4. Must have an excellent attendance record.
    5. Will be responsible for the daily supervision of the employees assigned in their department.
    6. Will be assigning work tasks on a daily basis.
    7. Will be evaluating existing staff.
    8. Will be involved in (with recommendations and evaluations) the selections of replacement personnel.
    9. Will be in charge of management and control of the work request backlog.
    10. Will be involved in the planning and project management of district projects.
    11. Will be required to evaluate and make recommendations for the correction of site and building deficiencies.
    12. Will be responsible for the material/supplies/budgeting control and ordering within their sub-department.
    13. Will be responsible for work areas and equipment; to include cleanliness, organization, maintenance and repair and replacement of equipment.
    14. Computer skills are required. Use of email and the work order request system are necessary on a daily basis.

    This will be a working supervisory position. Employee selected for this position must have an understanding of consensus decision making and be willing to work in that type of environment. Supervisor will be involved in strategic planning of district maintenance and construction projects as well as the monitoring and control of department backlogs. Evaluation and corrective actions for work (quality and timeliness of schedules) performed by staff and outside vendors is part of this assignment.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

    Regular working hours are 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. All maintenance employees are subject to call in 24 hours per day, any day of the week, and must work the necessary hours required. An outstanding attendance record is a must.

    Specific details involved in the position will be discussed with the administrator during the interview and at the time of hiring for the position.

    Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the Supervisory Employees Association, Livonia Schools .
