Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a talented Project Engineer to support our Southern California Water/Wastewater/Conveyance team based in Orange, CA.
The selected employee will have a primary focus on water/wastewater/conveyance infrastructure planning, condition assessment, and design for state, municipal, and private clients. The candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including site investigations, capacity studies, condition assessments, conceptual through 100 percent design, cost estimating, and construction administration/observation. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to develop professionally through frequent collaboration with senior engineers, project managers, clients, regulatory agencies, industry-leading subject matter experts, and attendance at professional conferences.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide technical support for a variety of water infrastructure related projects, including water/wastewater treatment plant design, pump station design, water line and collection line design, rehabilitation, planning, and construction administration.
- Create and provide guidance for designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.
- Perform work with little supervision.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems.
- Identify discrepancies in outcomes, results, and analysis of engineering tasks.
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
- Provide in-person guidance and mentorship to junior-level engineers.
- Provide assistance with workload forecasting and management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline and 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid U.S. Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years experience in design of water infrastructure projects.
- California PE certification, or FE/non-California PE with ability to gain California PE within one (1) year.
- Master's Degree in Civil, Environmental or related engineering field.
- Positive attitude, good aptitude, and strong initiative to integrate weith our existing group of outstanding professionals.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience internally and externally.
- Demonstrated proven track record of completing technical engineering tasks and balancing workload across multiple projects.
- Proficiency with design software including but not limited to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS.
- Experience with project management
- OSHA 10-hour training and/or HAZWOPER training
