Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Assistant Project Manager - Environmental for one of our offices in Sacramento, CA . This position is also open to remote work; however, the client is in California and it is expected that this individual's working hours are aligned with Pacific Time.

Summary:

This role will support environmental clearance and compliance activities for the California High-Speed Rail Program under Office 3.1, Capital Program Planning & Strategic Planning. Assist the Project Manager in overseeing the regional consultant to ensure quality, on-time delivery of environmental documents through preliminary engineering. Manage document reviews, track deliverables and approvals, coordinate with consultant teams, and support policy implementation and post-ROD commitments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support SoCal Regional Director with consultant oversight and tracking of scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate CEQA/NEPA deliverables, reviews, and approvals.
  • Lead interdisciplinary and agency/stakeholder coordination.
  • Assist with documents, memos, legal trackers, post-ROD tasks, and EIR/EIS tracking for LAAnaheim, HMF, Bakersfield, and Merced.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 8 Years of Relevant Experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating multi-agency and interdisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with rail project development phases and related transportation disciplines
  • Knowledge of federal and state contracting regulations
  • Preferred experience supporting environmental policy implementation and post-Record of Decision (ROD) activities
  • Strong knowledge of CEQA/NEPA processes, including preparation of Records of Decision (RODs) and Notices of Determination (NODs)
