Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Superintendent, incumbent is responsible for providing installation, maintenance, repairs, emergency repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and recommendations to upgrade, the medical gas and plumbing systems. Fire protection equipment. Also, assists with fire sprinkler shut down and repairs.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Understanding of regulatory controls and requirements of NEC, NFPA, AQMD, OSHA, and Joint Commission Standards.
  • Position is subject to the California DMV's 'Pull Notice System' and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license
  • Must be available to work alternate work schedules and overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Hospital/Healthcare environment
  • Knowledgeable and able to repair backflow preventers.
  • Experience with installation, repair and maintenance work including with pumps, motors, controllers, fixtures, piping, valves, fittings, strainers, sand filters, water heaters; drinking fountains, eyewash stations, drains and sewer systems, diversion valves and lift stations.
  • Experience in the start-up and operation of pumps and motors, sand filters, chemical injectors, and fountains.
  • Experience in the demolition of existing, and/or installation of new, systems or components.
  • Experience conducting preventive maintenance including the use of augers and hydrojetters to clean and clear storm drain and sewer lines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to use tools of the trade including but not limited to: Power tools, drain snakes, large wrenches.
  • Ability to perform testing and documentation on medical gas, vacuum and emergency eye wash systems.
  • Ability to install, repair and perform general maintenance on all gas piping.
  • Ability to handle the physical workload and perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to follow checklists or standard operating procedures, blueprints/schematics, specifications and other technical publications associated with the design and construction/installation of systems and equipment.
  • Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures.
