Equipment Operator Apprentice- Concrete Crew

SUMMARY

Work with a crew in the maintenance of City sidewalk and other concrete structures. Operate various vehicles such as dump trucks as needed and equipment such as backhoes and skid steers if necessary. Perform all manual labor tasks related to concrete maintenance work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist a crew in the installation and maintenance of City sidewalks, curbs, and gutters, along with other concrete structures
• Operate various vehicles such as dump trucks, haul trucks with trailers to haul materials to and from worksite
• Operate backhoe, loader, skid-steer, and other heavy equipment used in the installation and maintenance of City sidewalks and other concrete structures
• Use hand tools and equipment associated with construction and maintenance work such as shovels, sledgehammer, tape measures and other construction tools used in concrete maintenance
• Set out cones, signs, and other traffic control devices needed at worksites
• Serve as part of a rotational on-call team and respond to emergency situations as needed
• Assist other crews and perform other duties as assigned: operating a dump truck, rollers and other equipment while performing tasks related to street and alley reconstruction, installation and maintenance of signs, as part of the Sign Maintenance Crew, and assisting with traffic counts and pavement markings as part of the R.O.W Crew. Assist other crews and perform other duties as assigned
• Follows policies, procedures, safety guidelines and inspections of equipment and tools
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Certificates and Licenses

• Class A CDL permit or the ability to obtain within six (6) months
• Flagger Training within six (6) months
