Electrical Project Engineer Job Description We are looking for an Electrical Project Engineer I (mid-level) that will support the North American Amazon RMR project Team. Vanderlande's Amazon RMR team is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Amazon RMR projects throughout North America. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation, can be installed with efficiency, and maintain excellent communication with the site team. Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also having the soft skills to collaborate with the customer, vendor and internal organization to balance priorities, improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, drive, and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attempt to solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders. Key Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Develop code compliant electrical systems that meet the customer specifications If necessary translate sales drawings and specifications into a fully functional mechanical system description which can be translated to an Request for Proposal (RfP) which can be used by Project Procurement. Optimize the system functionality from as-sold to a working electrical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Mechanical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.) Perform system and component level calculations to size components and equipment for the application (conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, overcurrent and short circuit protection, control panels, control networks, etc.) Engineering of project specials needed for non-standard design applications Apply safety regulations Specify the electrical equipment required for the complete electrical system that operates and controls both Vanderlande manufactured, and third party purchased items Use software tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Word, Excel, etc.) to develop electrical designs such as wiring diagrams, termination lists, Bill of Materials, etc. Document all engineering decisions through design plans, complete and clear installation files, and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys Support the installation and commissioning both on site, and from the Marietta, GA office Project document control using a rights-based database system Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Minimum of 5 years of related work experience Or Associate EE/ET with 8 years related experience Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 33% with occasional international opportunities Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the details Willingness to learn Proactive Ability to work autonomously or in a team Motivator and ability to work well with team members Ability to quickly assess a situation and take appropriate action Strong team mentality and willingness to accept responsibility for project completion (Ownership Culture) Must have the ability to properly prioritize work/activities Possess a strong ability to solve problems and research solutions Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills Ability to drive process improvements Experience in project management or leading teams Ability/Experience using Project Planning & Deliverables Tracking tools Ability to use AutoCAD Electrical or other drafting tools Ability to use Autodesk Suite of tools, including Navisworks Expert knowledge of electrical engineering theories and principles Advanced knowledge/experience with NFPA 70 Experience designing UL rated control cabinets, designing low voltage power distribution systems, experience working with and programming PLCs Desired Qualifications: Advanced knowledge/experience with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Occupational Safety and Health Standards Advanced knowledge/experience with NFPA 70E Advanced knowledge/experience with NFPA 79 Advanced knowledge/experience with UL 508A Basic knowledge/experience with ISO 13849-1 Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
