Mechanical Project Engineer Job Description We are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer I that will support the North American Amazon RMR team. Vanderlande's Amazon RMR team is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Amazon RMR projects throughout North America. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation, can be installed with efficiency, and maintain excellent communication with the site team. Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also having the soft skills to collaborate with the customer, vendor and internal organization to balance priorities, improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills, creativity, strong interpersonal skills, drive, and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attempt to solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders. Key Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Translate sales drawings and specifications into a fully functional mechanical system description which can be translated to an Request for Proposal (RfP) which can be used by Project Procurement. Optimize the functionality from as-sold to a working mechanical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Electrical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.) 3D modeling of systems and subsequent clash detection management Associated 2D customer approval and installation layout drawings Perform spatial analysis of clearance envelopes, egress pathways and forklift vehicular aisles Perform system and component level checks as supplied by the possible vendors Engineering of non-standard mechanical interfaces Apply safety regulations and ergonomics Create a motor manifest with respect to electrical and controls engineering requirements Document all engineering decisions through design plans, complete and clear installation files, and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor Travel to site as needed to conduct site surveys Support the installation and commissioning both on site, and from the Marietta office Project document control using a rights based database system Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology Minimum of 5 years of relative work experience (or Associate ME/ET with 8 years related experience) Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 33% with occasional international opportunities Ability to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system design Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the details Willingness to learn Proactive Ability to work autonomously or in a team Motivator and ability to work well with team members Ability to quickly assess a situation and take appropriate action Strong team mentality and willingness to accept responsibility for project completion (Ownership Culture) Must have the ability to properly prioritize work/activities Possess a strong ability to solve problems and research solutions Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills Ability to drive process improvements Experience in project management or leading teams Ability/Experience using Project Planning & Deliverables Tracking Ability to use AutoCAD 2D & 3D Ability to use AutoDesk Suite of tools (Revit, Navisworks, Vault, BIM360, ACC, etc) Desired Qualifications: Knowledge/Experience with OSHA 1910/29 Occupational Safety and Health Standards Knowledge/Experience with International Building Code (IBC) Knowledge/Experience with ANSI B11 Machine Guarding Standards Knowledge/Experience with ASME B20.1 Safety Standards for Conveyors and Related Equipment Knowledge/Experience with ISO 13849-1 Experience in Using Commercially Available Project Management Software such as MS Project or Primavera Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
