Mechanical Engineer - Piping Focus Location: Multiple U.S. locations including Bellingham, WA; Billings, MT; Bismarck, ND; Minneapolis, MN; Spokane, WA; Vancouver, WA (Relocation assistance available for candidates willing to move) Compensation: Target base salary range: $140,000 - $160,000, with potential up to $170,000 for exceptional candidates. Job Description: This position involves supporting all phases of engineering projects, with a particular emphasis on front-end and detailed engineering. The role will serve as the mechanical engineering lead on projects and will ensure effective coordination and communication with other engineering disciplines. Reporting Structure: Reports administratively to the Mechanical/Structural Manager Reports functionally to the discipline lead engineer and/or project manager/project engineer during project execution Key Responsibilities: Piping Engineering Lead (Front-End & Detailed Engineering Phases): Selection and development of piping specifications Execution of piping stress analysis calculations Selection and design of piping supports Ensure compliance with applicable piping codes (e.g., ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8) Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and designers Mechanical Equipment Engineering: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, API) and internal standards Develop equipment specification drawings Perform hydraulic calculations for equipment sizing and selection Additional Duties: May include other responsibilities as assigned Qualifications: Education & Experience: BSc in Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 10 years' experience in industries such as petrochemical, oil & gas, power generation, and metallurgical/mineral processing Consulting experience is strongly preferred Technical Skills: Proficiency in quality management of discipline-specific deliverables Familiarity with common industrial metallurgies, welding procedures, corrosion mitigation, and relevant API standards Hydraulic analysis software experience (e.g., Design Flow Solutions, PipeFLO) Piping stress analysis experience using CAESAR II Equipment attachment analysis using NozzlePRO/FEPipe Equipment specification development and vendor coordination ASME BPVC design calculations using PV Elite Strong knowledge of relevant mechanical piping design standards (e.g., ASME, API, PIP, PFI, MSS, ANSI) Soft Skills: Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to resolve issues and execute tasks in a collaborative team environment Certifications & Licenses: PE license preferred; ability to register with NCEES and in other states is desirable Eligibility for a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required Please connect with me at ... or drop me your contact at ... .
