QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma

Business school training or office experience that reflects a high level of skill in typing, filing, and general office procedures

Communication skills which encompass the ability to relate to students and adults and to speak and write standard English

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent or designee

JOB GOAL: To organize or direct, as designated by the immediate supervisor,

all activities related to the operation and maintenance of the assigned office area

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversees and administers the day-to-day activities of the assistant superintendent's

office

  1. Provides assistance and support to the assistant superintendent, board members,

principals, and central office staff in problem solving, project planning and

management, and development and execution of stated goals and objectives

  1. Performs research on specific issues, as required, and independently prepares non-

routine letters and/or reports, which may be highly sensitive and confidential in

nature

  1. Serves as a primary point of direct administrative contact and liaison with other

offices, individuals, and external institutions and agencies on a range of specified

issues; organizes and facilitates meetings, conferences, and other special events, as

required

  1. Handles the disposition and/or resolution of individual problems involving faculty,

staff, students, parents, and/or members of the general public, as they arise

  1. Provides for the provision of greeting and assisting visitors, handling phone calls and

inquiries, scheduling and maintaining calendars and travel arrangements, screening,

analyzing, and preparing responses to incoming correspondence, handling day-to-day public relations and problem solving, provision of word processing support, $27, 345electronic memos; database management skills

  1. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  2. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials

  3. To follow federal, state, and local policies and procedures

  4. To use language that is void of vulgarity, lewdness, coarseness, or profanity

  5. To observe all policies and regulations as outlined in the Drug Free Workplace Act

  6. To be in attendance and on time at work, except for personal illness or emergency, as

defined by the policies of the Rapides Parish School Board

  1. To be loyal to the administration of the school system

  2. To be professionally dressed and well-groomed

  3. To perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
