Design Engineer

The designer engineer will drive designs, coordination, and implementation of projects in accordance with Linde policies. A core focus will be to learn and understand the food freezing products and drive new developments through commercialization of cryogenic technologies in the food industry.
You will have:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or similar field)
- 5+ years of design or applications engineering experience, ideally in the food industry
- Strong background in sheet metal design, conveyors, motors, fans, valves, and system integration
- Proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor (AutoCAD Electrical is a plus) and SolidWorks
- Experience working with Lean manufacturing principles and safety practices
- Skilled at reading and modifying assembly drawings, schematics, and P&IDs
- Familiarity with PLC systems, ladder logic (Allen Bradley / Siemens a plus)
- Experience with ERP systems like JDE or Oracle
- Bonus: Experience in cryogenics, USDA/NSF familiarity, or new product commercialization
Your responsibilities:
- Lead and support design engineering for cryogenic food freezing systems
- Create and manage 3D models, BOMs, tolerance stack-ups, and documentation (CAD, MRP, P&ID, etc.)
- Apply DFM principles to ensure efficient fabrication and assembly
- Perform mechanical calculations - heat transfer, flow rates, torque, and sizing
- Drive design reviews, risk assessments (PHA/FMEA), and change management
- Interface with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to troubleshoot and improve designs
- Travel for site visits, installs, testing, and customer engagement
- Contribute to new product development and commercialization strategies
- Travel 25% for site visits, install, and test
