Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provides field training and advice to construction superintendents and personally superintends projects for the construction, renovation, and/or major repair of habitable buildings, other structures, facilities, and improvements for an agency.
- Monitors construction projects initiated to ensure programmatic and construction standards are met. Advises assigned superintendents and facilities maintenance staff relative to program and construction.
- Initiates and properly manages construction projects for CHFS as approved within the six-year Capital Plan, budget, and/or management. This includes reviewing budgets, change orders, and processing funding requests.
- Works with the department in monitoring and managing energy and utility expenditures in owned properties. Ensure implemented programs and procedures are utilized to reduce CHFS energy usage in support of the 7 Point Strategic Energy Plan.
- Works with the department to implement energy conservation measures to support initiatives such as Kentucky High Performance Building Standards.
- Assists CHFS in identifying and prioritizing construction and equipment purchases while identifying cost saving construction methods.
- Interprets and advises on construction related procedures, statutes, and regulations.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Six years of experience as construction estimator, general contractor, architect, engineer, construction superintendent, in construction trades or in supervising one or more trades crews in major construction, or major renovation or major maintenance repair projects.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience as listed above will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title will be exposed to noise, dirt, temperature variances and other conditions inherent to construction sites.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
