Overview
Construction Inspector II will be instrumental in the successful execution of major construction projects within the Facilities team of the Construction Management Division. This position entails supervising and ensuring that all construction activities align with engineering standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. It is essential for the efficient, safe, and high-quality completion of critical facilities projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure design drawings and specifications are followed.
- Verify materials and workmanship meet project requirements.
- Conduct quality control testing and take corrective actions as needed.
- Confirm adherence to relevant codes and regulations.
- Ensure traffic control standards are followed.
- Oversee compliance with the City's "Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan" (SWPPP)
- Develop and maintain daily construction and inspection logs.
- Prepare and review Daily Activity Reports.
- Review and process contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and pay applications.
- Assist in resolving construction problems and disputes.
- Review change order requests for entitlement, accuracy, and cost reasonableness.
- Provide the project team with the necessary information to negotiate change orders.
- Facilitate project progress meetings.
- Maintain clear communication between the project team, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the City and franchise utilities, businesses, and property owners.
- Perform site inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor contractor progress and address any issues that arise.
- Ensure all duties and responsibilities are fulfilled as required.
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Non-Exempt - Full-Time
- Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Five (5) years of Municipal Infrastructure Construction or other related field experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring.
- Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
