Parallax is an architectural design and planning firm located in Culver City specializing in independent school and university buildings. Our office is a collaborative studio environment committed to creating distinctive high-performance architecture for educators. We have been serving schools in the Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley regions for over 30 years.
We are looking for a talented Intermediate Designer to support planning and design work on several school projects. Key qualifications include demonstrated design talent and experience with the design of institutional projects. Excellent team-working and communication skills are a must as well as a solid working knowledge of Revit software.
Specific responsibilities:
Develop architectural planning and design concepts for educational buildings under the direction of the Project Principals
Support consultant meetings and design presentations
Coordinate architectural design and building systems with engineering consultants
Supervise project design drawing and detailing by junior production staff
Support work with City and/or County agencies to resolve code related issues
Support the Project Manager throughout the project construction phase by answering design RFI's and reviewing shop submittals
Qualifications:
B-Arch from a U.S. College or University
At least 3-5 years of professional experience developing institutional buildings
Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office programs
Working knowledge/fluency in Revit for project design and detailing
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Familiarity with Los Angeles building and zoning codes
Knowledge of construction materials, standards and details
Ability to meet deadlines
Los Angeles area resident
Must be authorized to work in the US
