The Associate Mechanical Engineer develops new designs as a part of a group of designers and engineers in support of rotorcraft modifications and alteration activities. Performs analysis of metallic and composite components and assemblies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform and validate structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA (NASTRAN)
Develop new designs in support of aircraft modifications and alteration activities
Develop release and maintain engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks
Support Maintenance activities by amending data to address changes created by improved maintenance practices, part numbers changes, or service experience
Coordinate design issues with internal and external customers and suppliers
Research material and part specifications, regulatory documentation and documentations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Structural or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent experience
Knowledge of Mechanical Systems, Propulsion Systems, and/or Rotorcraft Flying Qualities is desired
Basic understanding of FAA Certification process is desired, specifically 14 CFR Part 21, 29, and 43
Experience using SolidWorks design software is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to present ideas, concepts and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels, technical and non-technical, internal and external
Proficient with Microsoft applications
Excellent technical and analytical skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
