Job Overview:
Operates various heavy equipment such as:
Dump trucks, tandem trucks (diesel and non-diesel).
Front-end loaders, compactors, farm tractors, boom mowers, chain saws.
Drives to haul materials (gravel, dirt, asphalt).
Clears brush, debris, and trash from roadsides and rights of way.
Installs and maintains road signs.
May direct traffic at job sites.
Conducts basic preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. 1-2 years of experience operating motorized equipment (e.g., heavy trucks, tractors, loaders). Equivalent education/experience combination acceptable. Licensing & Certification: Texas Class A CDL with N Endorsement (Tank Vehicles) required within 30 days of employment. Must possess or qualify for a Texas Jailers License
Miscellaneous Information
Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 25 pounds constantly. Physically demanding: climbing, bending, stooping, stretching, working on uneven terrain. Work classified as Heavy Work, requiring endurance and strength. Physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment o Heavy and light pick-up trucks o Tandem trucks o Power saws and tools o Air hammers o Axes and shovels
