**Immediate Supervisor:** Parks Supervisor or Recreation Supervisor
**GENERAL DESCRIPTION:**
This non-supervisory position is responsible for the operation of equipment requiring above-average driving skills and manipulative ability and for mowing over 200 acres of city-owned property and vacant lots within the city; must be able to skillfully operate tractor with mower and other related equipment. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.
**EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:**
- Operate tractor with mower attachments.
- Operate power mower, hedge trimmers, edger and weed eater when required.
- Perform routine grounds maintenance, including cutting grass, trimming hedges and trees, planting grass, watering, filling holes, picking up litter and other debris.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Assist in the general clean-up of all areas of the city, including downtown, as directed by the Parks Supervisor.
- Assist in repairs of fences, gates, walls, playground equipment and bleachers including painting and plumbing.
- Operates welder and cutting torch.
- Assist in moving tables, chairs and other equipment to various locations as directed by Parks Supervisor.
- Cleans restrooms in park and recreational buildings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Parks Supervisor.
**POSITIONS SUPERVISED:**
None.
**PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:**
- Outside, in cases of emergency, required to work nights and weekends.
- Occasional overtime hours required.
- Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites.
- Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards.
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50-100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push broom, sweep, and dig.
- Ability to walk over sloped and uneven terrain.
- Work involves getting dirty and wet, cutting grass and tree limbs.
- Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes, and odors.
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public.
- Ability to understand verbal and written communication.
**CONTACT WITH OTHERS:**
Occasional contact with other city employees; limited contact with general public.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
- Must have enough education to read and write effectively for this position.
- Must be able to comprehend and speak the English language.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. is a plus but not required.
