Position Title: SMTS System Design Engineer

Wage: $205,000 - $235,560 per year

Job Duties: AMD, Inc., is hiring SMTS System Design Eng. to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, electronic engineering, and mathematical analysis. Perform embedded coding for hardware components and respective drivers for network components. Formulate and define platform level validation test plans based on product/customer needs and troubleshoot and resolve platform network issues. Work with software developers on network performance enhancement. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products. Lead the development of software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and/or databases. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work with cross-functional teams including engineers to develop ASIC/layout design, working on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various company proprietary products.

Requirements:

Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field

and

Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Position Requires:

Position requires four (4) years of experience in the following:

Performing hardware and software verification;

Embedded driver development;

C, C++, or Python;

Software debugging in macOS, Linux, or Unix;

SoC and system architecture and SoC- or system-level debug;

Network selection and deployment in Datacenter environments;

Mesh network routing protocols and switching protocols;

RDMA network configuration and troubleshooting; and

Linux kernel networking.
