Position Title: PMTS Silicon Design Engineer

Job Duties: AMD, Inc., is hiring PMTS Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductors and related devices, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Lead definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Lead the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Evaluate and make technical decisions regarding all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Serve as technical leader across project or departmental boundaries to develop ASIC/layout design, working on issues that impact design or selling success or address future concepts, products or technologies. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Utilize expertise with computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, design techniques, tools, and principles to develop resolution to critical issues and broad design matters. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.
Requirements: Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and 60 months of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and 84 months of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Position Requires:
With either combination of education and experience, position requires five (5) years of experience in the following:
Hardware verification, SOC/system architecture, or Functional verification of microprocessors;
C/C++;
CPU architecture;
Object oriented design;
CMOS transistor design or ASIC design;
EDA tools;
Scripting languages like Perl/Python.
