The General Construction Laborer will be responsible for assisting plumbers with installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing systems during a new build to ensure the construction project is completed on time. The position of Laborer will perform manual labor duties related to the building of the project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist plumber with installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing systems and fixtures

Measuring, cutting, threading and assembling pipes and pipe fittings.

Help locate and repair issues with water supply lines and drainage systems

Perform basic plumbing tasks such as unclogging drains and replacing leaky pipes or faucet

Hold pipes in place while plumber cuts and fits them

May operate a variety of hand and power tools

May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials

Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects

Manually excavates and fills trenches and ditches

Handles and stores materials

Operate electric powered tools

Follow safety rules

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.

6 months to one year of construction experience

Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions

Some knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy construction work

Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions

Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule

Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions

Ability to communicate orally and in writing

Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely

Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions

Ability to meet punctuality and attendance schedule with dependability and

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and work orders.

Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices related to excavation work (OSHA standards).

Preferred Qualification

OSHA certification preferred.

Working Environment

This position primarily operates outdoors at various job sites in the San Antonio, Texas and surrounding area.

Exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and sun.

Exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations from heavy equipment.

Work may involve uneven terrain and potential hazards associated with construction sites, including trenches, heavy machinery, and underground utilities.

Requires the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety boots.

The work schedule is typically full-time, Monday through Friday, but may include occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project demands.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.

Ability to operate foot and hand controls precisely.

Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust.

Ability to work in confined spaces and around excavations.

Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Visual acuity (corrected or uncorrected) sufficient to operate equipment safely and read documents.

Hearing ability (corrected or uncorrected) sufficient to hear and understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment.
