The Associate Mechanical Engineer develops new designs as a part of a group of designers and engineers in support of rotorcraft modifications and alteration activities. Performs analysis of metallic and composite components and assemblies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Perform and validate structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA (NASTRAN)
* Develop new designs in support of aircraft modifications and alteration activities
* Develop release and maintain engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks
* Support Maintenance activities by amending data to address changes created by improved maintenance practices, part numbers changes, or service experience
* Coordinate design issues with internal and external customers and suppliers
* Research material and part specifications, regulatory documentation and documentations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Structural or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of Mechanical Systems, Propulsion Systems, and/or Rotorcraft Flying Qualities is desired
* Basic understanding of FAA Certification process is desired, specifically 14 CFR Part 21, 29, and 43
* Experience using SolidWorks design software is preferred
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to present ideas, concepts and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels, technical and non-technical, internal and external
* Proficient with Microsoft applications
* Excellent technical and analytical skills
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
