A leading organization in the Charlotte area is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a 1-year temporary role. This position supports day-to-day maintenance operations to ensure equipment reliability and plant efficiency. The ideal candidate will be skilled in mechanical troubleshooting, equipment repair, and preventive maintenance practices.
Schedule: MondayFriday, 6:00 AM2:30 PM, with occasional Sundays and weekday overtime
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, install, and troubleshoot machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools
- Support preventive and reactive maintenance activities across the plant
- Repair and rebuild pumps, conveyors, auger systems, packaging machinery, and cable systems
- Follow safety standards and protocols in all tasks
- Work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
- Recommend equipment modifications and improvements
- Maintain clear documentation of work performed and equipment updates
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Vocational or technical training (Millwright or similar) is a plus
- Familiarity with OSHA and industrial safety regulations
- Experience with pump alignments, hydraulics, rigging, welding, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read equipment drawings and technical documents
- Strong communication skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Physical capability to climb stairs, lift, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces or at heights
- Willingness to work in all-weather conditions
- Must pass a background check
