Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Lead to manage and direct surveying activities for large infrastructure projects. This role involves operating and maintaining surveying equipment, ensuring precise data collection, and implementing high-definition scanning techniques. The Survey Crew Lead will coordinate with project managers and engineers, train junior crew members, and ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a survey crew, ensuring accurate and timely completion of surveying tasks.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including total stations and data collectors.
- Conduct and oversee surveying activities for large infrastructure projects, including roadway, utilities, and land development.
- Implement high-definition scanning techniques and processes as required.
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to provide precise measurements and data.
- Train and mentor junior crew members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies on all projects.
- Assist in the preparation of survey reports and documentation.
Essential Skills
- Background with infrastructure projects
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, which can include education
- Familiarity with survey equipment
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficient in operating total stations, data collectors, and other surveying equipment
- Experience with tunnels, railroads, airports, and infrastructure projects
- Survey license and survey degree are preferred but not required
- Familiarity with high-definition scanning techniques
- Knowledge of boundary survey software
Work Environment
This position is based in Edison, NJ, with office reporting required 1 to 2 days a week to check in with the team and switch out equipment. The role involves travel around South Jersey, with compensation for mileage and tolls. The Crew Chief will receive a company vehicle and equipment, with most work utilizing LICA equipment. The position is typically a straight 40-hour week but may require night work for railroad projects due to safety issues. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
