Shift = All Shifts - Biggest need is on 2nd and 3rd shift!
Pay = $26-29hour (dependent on results of ABS Test in FCAW)
Duration = 6 months+ (Temp to hire)
As a Shipfitter, your expertise in Flux Core Arc Welding will be put to the test as you perform with precision and efficiency on large fleet maritime vessels. Previous shipyardwelding experience is a plus as all candidates will need to successfullyplete required shipfitting tests to meet our stringent quality standards.
Additional shipfitting responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
Align and fit parts according to specifications.
Position, align, fit, and weld parts to formplete units, following blues.
Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, cutting torches, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metalponents.
Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
Tack-weld fitted parts together.
Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to work pieces, using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone.
Hammer, chip, and grind work pieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
What Do We Want to Know About You? We're looking for candidates who possess:
High school degree or equivalent.
3-5+ years of experience in a custom build shop preferred.
Ability to read and understand blues along with 3D sschematic
Physically able to lift 50 pounds - inclusive of walkingclimbing stairs
Comfortable working in smallerenclosed spaces within the ship

Pay Details: $26.00 to $29.00 per hour
