Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Tool Design Engineer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

Aurora Flight Sciences is currently looking for a Tool Design Engineer with 1+ years of experience designing tooling in a composite manufacturing facility. Must have Catia V5 experience creating aircraft tool drawings and models. Must be proficient at blueprint reading and Geometric tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M 2018). Must be a self-starter who requires minimal supervision, with the ability to identify and resolve tool-related issues and contribute to process improvements. Create tool designs from engineering models and drawings. Revise existing tool designs to incorporate engineering and process changes. Works with engineering and manufacturing to identify problems with performance or tool life and recommends and implements solutions or enhancements. Be able to adapt to a fast paced, constantly changing, and innovative environment. Operate in compliance with company standards and practices, following guidance from Tooling Group Leads/Manager.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Create tool designs from engineering models and drawings.
  • Revise existing tool designs to incorporate engineering and process changes.
  • Coordinate and work with shop personnel on producibility issues.
  • Take direction from senior level tool designers and tooling management.
  • Engage in meetings with managers and department leads to status tool projects
  • Manage and keep track of tooling related tasks at facility
  • Ensure tooling is properly maintained, stored, and available for use

Minimum Requirements

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor), or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • Computer/Software Skills:
  • CATIA V5
  • Microsoft Windows: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Must be a U.S. Person

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Tooling or Mechanical Design
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player; ability to interact effectively with other employees in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
  • Follow Boeing regulations for lifting.
  • Work onsite in Columbus, MS.

Salary Range (Annualized USD)

  • Minimum Range: $48,000.00 to $85,000.00
  • Maximum Range: $59,000.00 to $105,000.00
