- Position: EHSO Environmental Health and Safety Officer
- Location - (Midlothian) transitioning to (Olympia Fields)-
- Salary - 65-75k
SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to analyze workplace hazards and maintain a safe environment for patients, clients, visitors and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, implement and maintain environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
- Participate with the Environment of Care team to promote and provide safety expertise through the development and presentation of safety training materials.
- Design, develop, promote and conduct safety and environmental training & awareness programs under the supervision of the Vice President of Safety and Chief Finance Office.
- Conduct work area assessments, surveys, inspections, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions.
- Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
- Collect, analyze, evaluate and maintain data essential for effective safety and environmental programs.
- Perform or assist with accident investigations as needed.
- Maintain awareness of facilities, including mechanical design, type of services offered at site and geography of area.
- Participate in construction or pre-construction meetings with V.P. of Safety.
- Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for this position.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- EDUCATION:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Safety, Risk Management or a related field is required; Master's degree desirable or previous experience in the job-related duties.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before staff within the organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:
- Ability to understand and demonstrate Aunt Martha's 5-step Performance Improvement process, utilizing the methodology Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA).
- JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to use technical skills and apply knowledge necessary for this position. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Have an understanding of federal, state and local laws, codes and ordinances that apply to the position.
- SAFETY AND INFECTION CONTROL:
- Be knowledgeable about and follow Aunt Martha's safety policies and procedures.
