Construction Inspector
Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector to join our team in Savannah, Georgia. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and compliance of wastewater treatment projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in inspection and be eager to grow and learn on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and document the Contractors on-site activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, safety requirements, and environmental standards.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFI's, and change orders for technical accuracy and field applicability.
  • Serve as a daily point of contact between the Contractor, Engineer, and Owner. Assist in interpreting plans and resolving technical issues as they arise in the field.
  • Track project milestones, critical path activities, and identify scheduling conflicts or delays.
  • Maintain daily field reports, photo logs, marked-up record drawings, and issue logs.
  • Verify that all materials and equipment conform to approved submittals and are properly stored, handled, and installed.
  • Attend progress meetings, site walks, and inspections. Provide field input for pay applications and monthly progress reports.
  • Assist in enforcing quality standards and identifying corrective measures when construction deviates from design intent.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in construction, construction inspection, civil construction, and working with DOT standards.
  • Proficiency in monitoring onsite projects for water and wastewater treatments, lift stations, and open-cut pipes.
  • Experience with reviewing RFI's, submittals, construction plans, and completing change orders.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC standards in construction design plans.
  • Client-facing experience.
  • Ability to track and monitor projects on a day-to-day basis to ensure they are up to standard and completed on time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and field reporting software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Construction Engineering (or a related field preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in construction observation, field engineering, or construction managementpreferably in water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and utility infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification is a plus.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to various project sites.
Work Environment

This role is based in Savannah, GA, with the company's headquarters in Indianapolis, IN. The company has 60 employees across Savannah, Indianapolis, and Louisville, KY. We are in the process of determining a suitable office location in Savannah. You will receive a company truck and gas allowance to travel between project sites. Hours are typically 9 AM to 5/6 PM, depending on project needs. You will work on multiple projects, including wastewater and water treatment plants, open-cut pipes, and lift stations. Training will involve a week in Indianapolis to meet the team and receive in-person training.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $49.00/hr.
