Position: Journeyman Electrician
Reports to: Electrical Maintenance Supervisor
Shift: Day shift
Pay: $38.98; this is a collective bargaining position

What youll be contributing:
Under general supervision and according to established safety and work policies and procedures, performs maintenance work associated with electrical systems and instrumentation.
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoots and repairs control/instrumentation systems.
- Inspects electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Performs preventive maintenance on electrical equipment.
- Performs calibration on various pieces of equipment and instrumentation.
- Runs conduit and handles conductors.
- Installs new electrical equipment.
- Assists plant employees in proper operation of equipment.
- Repairs shop tools.
- Performs maintenance on lighting structures.
- Performs various types of welding associated with electrical installation and maintenance.
- Uses the computerized maintenance management system to create and close work orders
- Observes all safety rules and regulations, as well as complies with national electrical codes.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- High school graduation or equivalent is required
- College or technical school training is preferred
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or be a licensed electrical journeyman is required
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided
- Knowledge of national electrical codes; and ability to apply the principles of electrical and electronic theory, instrumentation and control.
- Ability to bend conduit and select conductors for different applications.
- Ability to accurately read and understand electrical schematics.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate voltage tester, VOM, oscilloscopes, ammeters, general hand tools, drills, pipe benders, forklifts, and related equipment.
What to expect in a cement environment:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure. Frequent exposure to dust, heat, and poor ventilation. Daily contact with areas of high voltage, in some cases as high as 4160 volts. Lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds; and twisting of the wrist to operate equipment. Work requires walking over rough or uneven surfaces, climbing, kneeling, bending, pulling, pushing, working in awkward positions, climbing stairs, working in a man lift up to 85 off the ground, and working in confined and hot areas.
