Cad Technician

Actalent is currently seeking a qualified CAD Technician for a position near Lake Oswego, OR. As a CAD Technician, you will be part of a dynamic team that supports innovative engineering projects. You will play a key role in supporting engineering initiatives, including drafting and design of substations for local utilities nationwide. You will perform engineering technician work requiring basic technical knowledge, utilizing electronic applications, processes, standards, and document control procedures to create or modify deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Develop familiarity by reading, understanding, and maintaining a working knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and policies and procedures.
• Ensure that deliverables are accurate and compliant by developing an understanding and complying with company quality and continuous improvement programs.
• Demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Learn the applications required to modify less complex deliverables based on a variety of design inputs.
• Identify the needs of internal clients and gain a basic understanding of external clients' main interests and drivers.
• Proactively seek and share knowledge of the latest technologies and processes.

• 2-5 years of experience in substation drafting.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Understanding of client standards, MicroStation, Autodesk Inventor, and SDS.

• Preferred Non-Technical Skills: Learning on the fly, problem-solving, perseverance, patience, time management, drive for results, self-development, listening, and informing.
• Preferred Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Computer Automated Drafting Design (CADD) or other applications, design or modeling skills, basic knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and company policies and procedures.
• Diploma or Certificate preferred. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
• 3-5 years of substation drafting experience preferred.
• Experience with drafting software: AutoCAD SDS, AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, or Inventor.

This role offers a hybrid work environment with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. The office is newly renovated with lots of open space, collaborative work spaces, single-use offices, and comfortable workspaces with bean bag chairs. The pay range for this position is $24.03 - $43.26/hr.
