Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role will work alongside the Director of Operations to support the daily operational requirements of the district. The primary focus of this position is to organize and strategize for the upkeep and repair of the Facilities and Grounds.

Essential Functions:

  • Engages in daily collaboration with the Director of Operations
  • Oversees and trains personnel responsible for maintaining buildings and grounds.
  • Evaluates and approves the work completed by staff and external contractors.
  • Prepares job estimates and aids in bidding for projects assigned to outside contractors.
  • Administers the district-wide work order system.
  • Collaborates with Town Departments on grounds projects and maintenance.
  • Formulates long-term strategies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Creates and manages budgets to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Identifies and resolves issues that may occur in daily operations.
  • Recognizes and implements process improvements to optimize workflows.
  • Responds thoughtfully and constructively to complaints; delivers customer service with tact, courtesy, sensitivity, and discretion in all interactions with both internal and external customers.
  • Ensures compliance with instructions, safety protocols, adherence to accepted trade practices, and alignment with department policies, regulations, and applicable government laws as they relate to the work.
  • Coordinates departmental and individual schedules.
  • Carries out additional duties related to the primary responsibilities of the position as necessary.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:

A high school diploma is required, with a preference for a college degree. Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in building maintenance, or possess a combination of education, training, and experience that equips them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. While licenses in Construction Supervision, Plumbing, Electrical, or Hoisting are preferred, they are not mandatory.

Knowledge, Ability:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential for overseeing multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
  • Possesses general computer skills for utilizing a work order system.
  • Has a foundational understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Possesses general knowledge of heating and ventilation systems.
  • Familiar with Massachusetts Building Codes.
  • Has a basic understanding of maintenance plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of materials, safety measures, and techniques related to building maintenance operations.
  • Capable of quickly and effectively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Skilled in prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities when necessary.
  • Able to interpret engineering and building plans as well as blueprints.
  • Competent in applying basic math skills to determine the quantity of materials and supplies required for efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Eager and willing to acquire job-related skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to reach, bend, stoop, crouch and climb a ladder.
  • Vision and hearing at, or correctable to normal ranges.
  • Certain tasks require verbal communication.
  • Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.

Will report to: Director of Operations

SALARY/BENEFITS: $95,000-$110,000, dependent upon qualification & experience. Includes comprehensive and generous benefits.

STARTING DATE: On or After 7/1/2025
