Lead carpenter/carpenter's helper for rental and renovation company

  • Johnson, Vermont
  • Full Time
Clay Hill Management is a property management and renovation company based in Johnson, Vermont but we also manage properties in Burlington and Richford, Vermont. For the past 15 years we have been repairing and renovating residential apartments, upgrading and tiling bathrooms and kitchens, adding units to existing buildings and managing over 80 residential units.

Our goals are: attention to detail, making thoughtful choices to create spaces people will enjoy living in, using hardwood and ceramic rather than cheaper finishes whenever possible, and maintaining a positive and respectful relationship with those who live in the apartments we manage.

When we are not renovating apartments in need, we will be embarking on a larger project building energy-efficient single family homes and condos. The modern design will feature high-efficiency triple glazed windows we import from Europe.

We are looking for self-motivated and driven workers who are interested in projects like this and share many of our aesthetic values and who would value the training and experience gained by being part of the team.

Those with less carpentry experience can also help with the property maintenance such as lawn care, snow plowing, pest control including heat treatments for bed bugs, RRP painting repairs, and other regular maintenance. We have a back hoe and may be doing some septic and excavation work, so experience as an operator would be useful. If you have an interest in management and an ease with technology, this is a plus, but only minimal use of phone apps is necessary for the job.

We can offer housing for a discount. Some of the work will be in Burlington and Richford, but most of our apartments are in Johnson.

Skills we are looking for:

Experience with flooring: wood, ceramic, laminate, carpeting and others
Tiling walls/backsplashes, building shower stalls using Schleuter membrane
Sheet rock installation
Window Installation
Trim carpentry
Painting experience
Attention to detail, consistent organizational skills, good memory.
Ability to follow through without being prompted, to make sure all tasks are complete, especially when managing several ongoing projects.
Clear communication: we value and respect those who are willing to take initiative, look out for the interests of the company and ask as many questions as they need to do the job well.
Pay is negotiable, depending on your skill level, experience, and ability to contribute to our growing business. We can provide housing for a reduced cost as long as you are working for us.

We can also provide a business phone or cover your phone bill, depending on your role. We provide workers comp and unemployment insurance as well as 6 days paid holidays for full time employees.
