The City of Auburn Engineering division is seeking a Engineering Survey Technician to join our team. This opportunity will allow you to be a part of a diverse team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing field survey work to accomplish GNSS, terrestrial survey, and field scanning activities for topographic mapping, property boundaries, and construction projects.
  • Performing calculations to ensure closures of traverses and level loops and verifying calculations of others; performing necessary calculations to set stakes and hubs for street, utilities and other public works projects; computing grades and profiles.
  • Locating and establishing boundaries, monuments, and benchmarks in accordance with state regulations and procedures.
  • Conducting As-Built field observations and mapping to verify existing and completed conditions of road and utility infrastructures built for recent capital and private development projects.
  • Preparing routine engineering survey reports including cut sheets, field notes, and sketches to accompany field survey data; maintaining survey control, topographic survey, construction staking, boundary data, and line work in the data collector to support City projects.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering construction plans, maps, and specifications; reviews and supplies comments for capital project design drawings.

We are looking for candidates who have:
  • Two (2) years college-level course work in civil engineering AND one (1) year of increasingly responsible survey experience; OR a combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.

  • Equivalent experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Possesses and retains valid state drivers license without impending loss at time of appointment.

  • Current traffic flagging card, or ability to acquire within six (6) months of hire.
