Job Description

Summary/objective

Under the direction of the Sanitation Supervisor, the sanitation Utility Operator is responsible for the regularly scheduled upkeep of the Facility. Which includes cleaning and sanitizing of machinery used to produce finished goods as needed. This is to ensure compliance with equipment sanitary conditions prior to the start of production in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Utility and Cleaning duties include:

  • The use of basic tools to make repairs to walls and doors, caulking, sealing doors, removing rust, etc.
  • Routine scheduled cleaning based on a master schedule.
  • Clean overhead coils on Master schedule
  • Pre-sanitation production area prior to start of the sanitation process.
  • Pre-rinsing of equipment
  • CIP & QA inspections
  • Final rinse & foam
  • Reassembly of equipment
  • After sanitation is completed, perform pre-production pre-op, and start to produce quality product as per daily production schedule for shift start up.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty. Essential job functions and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Use of hand tools such as: hammer, wrenches, sockets caulking gun, etc.
  • Use of some power tools such as: drill, grinder,
  • Use of ladders, forklift and a scissor lift as needed.
  • Perform basic repairs to the facility for general housekeeping.
  • Must use chemical for the cleanup process to the SSOP
  • Perform sanitation duties as required by SSOPs.
  • Perform cleaning of high hygiene process areas.
  • Strictly adhere to and follow all applicable Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Properly record information related to cleaning and sanitation tasks as required.
  • P repares product for distribution productively and accurately according to established guidelines and customer specifications.
  • Operate equipment safely and effectively for production processing.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in good and safe working condition.
  • Works independently and in a team as assigned and moves between job functions as needed.
  • Practices safety awareness.
  • Adheres to GMP's

  • Perform manual or computer functions to enter data in systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Competencies

    • Have basic mechanical or carpentry experience or aptitude
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to read, write and perform basic math.

    Work environment

    While performing the functions of this job, the employee:

    • Continuously exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
    • Wet or humid conditions, extreme cold.
    • Occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places and dust airborne particles.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
    • may be required to work on other shifts as needed.
    • Will be using chemicals for the cleaning of the facility

    Physical demands

    • Physical activity to include standing and walking up to 8-12 hours with scheduled breaks.
    • Ability to function in a cold environment, including bending, twisting, stepping, stooping, reaching, lifting, and pushing.
    • Physical ability to move product weighing up to 45 pounds on a regular basis.
    • Ability to safely operate hand and power equipment according to procedure.
