Design Engineer

Location -- Remote: North New Jersey

Duration -- 6 months (Possibility of Extension)

• Work experience performing electric distribution design engineering, either in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility;
• Senior- Level: 4+ years of relevant experience
• A bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution will be preferred, but relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
• Experience with the execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approval, including Customer interaction and Process documentation
• Experience with utility reliability projects
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency with the NESC
• Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)
• Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion; The role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages
• Candidates should possess a valid U.S. driver's license, as some local or regional travel is expected

Nice to Have:

• Previous QAQC experience
• Experience providing estimated costs, developing a BOM, and calculating the CIAC
• Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, O-Calc, Spida-Calc
• Experience with the Work Management System CREWS
• 1 year or more of Relevant management or leadership experience
• Relevant experience with the utility FirstEnergy, or its subsidiaries
