Our services span from site investigation and value engineering to full-scale excavation and utility installation. We are currently hiring a dependable and safety oriented Backfill Excavator Operator to support our wet utilities crews. This full-time role is essential to ensuring the structural integrity of our underground utility systems by properly backfilling and compacting trenches after pipe installation.

What you will do:

• Operate 200-class excavator to backfill utility trenches following pipe installation
• Compact each lift of backfill materials using a roller wheel attachment
• Coordinate with the water truck operator to apply appropriate moisture content for optimal compaction
• Follow grade specifications and maintain trench integrity during the backfill process
• Communicate effectively with ground crews and foremen to ensure safe and efficient operations
• Maintain equipment and perform daily inspections to ensure proper function and safety

What were looking for:

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating a 200-class excavator in utility or heavy civil construction.
• Familiarity with compaction techniques and moisture control in trench backfill
• Understanding of OSHA safety standards related to excavation and trenching
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Must have valid drivers license
