General Summary:
The Safety Manager plays a pivotal role at a large Federal Government facility, ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory standards. The Safety Manager also fosters a culture of safety, working closely as a member of the Contract Management Team with Corporate Safety Officers and the client.
Oversees the site Safety Program and ensures it meets all regulatory and PWS requirements, and company policies and procedures.
Identifies which health and safety programs (e.g. fall protection, ladders, respiratory, etc.) are relevant to site-specific safety plan.
Reviews and approves subcontractor Safety & Health Plans.
Provides technical guidance to jobsite personnel by maintaining comprehensive knowledge and interpretations of current standards (EM 385-1-1 Section 1 and ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16), regulations, codes, and best practices as they apply to daily work activities.
Monitors and analyzes safety data to identify potential hazards and implements mitigation strategies
Performs weekly worksite Safety assessments to identify hazards and noncompliance affecting the work environment; verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions that were developed are closed out and document as necessary.
Conducts risk assessments and incident investigations (i.e. data gathering, root cause analysis, corrective actions, follow-up procedures, etc.)
Develops and delivers safety training
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:
Must be currently certified as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist.
5+years of experience in Occupational Safety & Health on similar contracts, including roles in safety management, regulatory compliance, or accident/incident investigation
Minimum of Five years supervisory experience
Military/civil service experience highly desirable
Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical or civil), safety management, or a related field. Experience may be substituted for education.
OSHA 30 hour certificate required
Minimum of Five years supervisory experience
Experience in government contracting and financial administration
Knowledge of U.S. government procurement regulations and labor law
Excellent management and employee relations skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable facilitating meetings and trainings
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters
Ability to work independently and recommend solutions to problems
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Projects
Superior attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while attending to multiple tasks and demands
A background check and drug screen will be conducted for this position.
