Position Summary:

The Lift Maintenance Technician Apprentice assists certified technicians in the safe and efficient maintenance, repair, and inspection of all aerial and surface lifts, including associated equipment and systems, at the ski resort. This entry-level position is designed to provide comprehensive on-the-job training and foundational knowledge necessary to progress towards becoming a certified Lift Maintenance Technician. The Apprentice will learn and apply principles of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural maintenance under direct supervision, adhering strictly to manufacturer specifications, industry standards (e.g., ANSI B77.1), and company safety policies.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:

Safety Adherence: Strictly follow all company safety policies and procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) protocols. Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Identify and report any unsafe conditions or practices immediately.

Preventative Maintenance Support: Assist certified technicians in performing routine preventative maintenance tasks on lift components (e.g., grips, sheaves, gearboxes, motors, brakes, hydraulic systems). Aid in lubrication of moving parts according to schedules and specifications. Support visual inspections of lift lines, towers, terminals, and haul ropes for wear, damage, or anomalies. Help with cleaning and maintaining lift equipment and work areas.

Troubleshooting & Repair Assistance: Observe and learn troubleshooting techniques for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various lift systems. Help with component replacement (e.g., bearings, belts, sensors, wiring) as directed.

Record Keeping & Documentation: Assist in accurately documenting all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in logbooks or digital systems. Learn to complete work orders and inspection forms thoroughly. Help maintain inventory of parts and tools.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Lift Operations & Evacuation Support: Learn the basic operational procedures of all ski lifts. Participate in lift evacuation drills and learn emergency evacuation procedures and equipment.

Specific Job Skills:

License/Certifications - Driver's license preferred.

Technical - Mechanical aptitude, Technical Training, and or Lift operations experience.

Physical Capabilities - This job requires repetitive lifting of fifty pounds or more, working outside in extreme weather conditions, sitting or standing for long periods of time, repetitive motions, bending, Squatting, kneeling, twisting, working above your shoulder level, and the ability to safely climb ladders and structures in excess of 50 feet.

Additional - Entry level position/ some tools required.

Education/Related Experience:

Minimum education required -High School diploma, or GED equivalent

Minimum time in related position - Entry Level

Equipment and Safety/Protective Equipment Used:

You will be required to provide some of your own tools.
