Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6am to 2:30pm
MISSION:
To operate a molding machine as needed to produce simple wax patterns of the highest quality. To inspect, trim and clean wax parts as required.
And/Or
To clean patterns produced by others when required to meet standards defined by the tech card.
To assemble components including gating systems to produce mold forms to be invested.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Tooling Preparation
Objective: to accurately prepare tooling dies for operation.
Typical Activities:
- Assembles disassembles, prepares and positions tooling dies for operation; changes die inserts as required.
- Adds chills and solubles per tech cards.
- Removes and/or cleans tooling after operation.
Mold Machine Operation
O bjective: To operate molding machines accurately and efficiently using technique cards and established setup procedures. To maintain dimensional integrity of product.
Typical Activities:
- Sets up, monitors, and controls mold machine functions.
- Keeps die clean during molding operations.
- Removes wax parts from die, inspects for defects, and trims.
- Cleans wax parts as required.
Assembly Preparation.
Objective: To inspect patterns molded by others and determine assembly methods.
Typical Activities:
- Pre-inspects pattern and gating components prior to start of assembly. Clean patterns that have not been previously cleaned.
- Reads and follows technique card assembly instructions, which describe assembly steps; plans the methods for completing a given assignment and selects among alternative assembly methods.
Assembly.
Objective: to accurately assemble multicomponent molds consisting of patterns and gates on a tree or frame.
Typical Activities:
- Welds gates into place by means of torch or hot pencil.
- Assembles multiple patterns and gates to create a mold for investment.
- Smoothes and gauges the area around each assembly contact by means of hot pencil, torch or paint seal.
- Frequently modifies gates by reshaping, splicing or reducing in order to obtain proper fit.
- Hand fabricates elementary gating from raw stock.
- May develop code sheets for engineering-requested modifications or deviations to standard assemblies.
- Inspects assemblies during and after the assembly process for defects and quality.
Safety.
Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
Typical Activities:
- Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
- Safely operates all equipment and tools.
- Identifies and reports safety problems.
- May train less skilled operators as assigned.Performs other tasks as assigned.
TRAINING :
- Training is provided on the job.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS :
- Molding, cleaning, and assembly experience preferred
