What this job involves
The Construction Project Manager plays a vital role in guiding and managing construction projects from beginning to end. Projects primarily focus on utilities and infrastructure projects. Your focus will be on implementing effective project management practices, optimizing construction processes, and fostering strong team leadership. This approach will help ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with standards and safety requirements.
As the Construction Project Manager, you will coordinate all facets of the construction process and effectively engage with stakeholders. By ensuring that every phase of the project aligns with goals and regulatory guidelines, you will contribute significantly to the success of our endeavors. Your leadership will be instrumental in upholding our commitment to the highest standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop comprehensive project plans that outline project scope, timeline, budget, and resource allocation.
- If the project scope is unclear and additional site study is required, we will proactively seek CAR 0 funding to gain a comprehensive understanding of the construction space conditions. This approach will ensure that we are well-informed and can make the best decisions moving forward.
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors necessary for project execution.
Budget & Cost Management:
- Prepare cost estimates, monitor project budgets, and ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Continuously update the project cash flow and communicate any potential risks as needed.
- Review and approve invoices, change orders, and other financial documentation.
- Implement cost-saving measures and value engineering solutions to enhance project profitability.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Lead and manage on-site project teams, including subcontractors, laborers, and site supervisors.
- Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment, ensuring clear communication among all stakeholders.
- Conduct regular team meetings and site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure quality standards are met.
Quality Control & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all construction activities comply with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
- Enforce safety protocols on-site to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and address any quality control issues that arise during the project.
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide regular progress updates, manage expectations, and resolve any concerns or issues.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Consistently update the project tracker to accurately communicate all project details.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential project risks and implement strategies to mitigate or resolve them.
- Proactively address project delays, disputes, or conflicts to ensure the project stays on track.
Project Close-Out:
- Ensure all necessary inspections, permits, and documentation are completed at project close-out.
- Conduct a final review of the project with the client, ensuring satisfaction and completion of all deliverables.
- Coordinate the handover of the project to the client or facility management team.
Desired experience and technical skills
Required
3+ years of experience in construction project management, specifically with utilities and infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Strong understanding of budget and cost management principles.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage on-site project teams, including subcontractors and laborers.
Knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience in risk management and mitigation strategies.
Familiarity with project close-out procedures and documentation.
Ability to negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
