Project Engineer Mechanical leads and manages project assigned engineering teams and is responsible for driving continuous improvement efforts across different engineering disciplines. Performs high level, engineering analysis, design or re-design, validation and troubleshooting of complex integrated solutions for communication, computer and networking systems for use on a broad range of airport ground. support equipment. These solutions require strong mechanical engineering background with working knowledge in specialized engineering practices like refrigeration and heat transfer systems, sheet metal working and weldments.
YOUR IMPACT
- Leads, plans and coordinates an engineering project team consisting of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians dealing with design or re-design, development, and integration of various NPD projects or legacy products in the airport ground equipment landscape, delivering moderate-to-complex projects on time and within budget.
- Provide coaching, technical guidance, and development opportunities for team members, including performance feedback and development planning.
- Prepare and control project development budget, forecast development and project operating costs, and direct preparation of budget requests for new projects or developments.
- May have P&L ownership; understand product line financials and market share.
- Represent engineering in technical discussions with leadership and customers.
- Support new product development, existing product sustainability, and R&D initiatives for emerging technologies.
- Provide technical domain expertise for prototype, pilot or production builds, including resolution of problems in manufacturing. Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for complex design of physical integration and mechanical operation in equipment and systems, diesel driven generators or direct driven systems, meeting international and industry standards including drawing development, review and release.
- Lead design and integration of components, subsystems, and systems aligned with international and industry standards (e.g., UL, CE).
- Perform complex and accurate calculations, analysis and investigation according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards, processes, compliance auditors (UL/CE).
- Ensure design quality by considering performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with internal engineering disciplines and external suppliers/customers.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including technical reports and proposals.
- Enforce engineering criteria, drawing standards, and compliance protocols.
- Participate in and support prototype, pilot, and production builds.
- Evaluate and address production support issues, provide design feedback, and support test result interpretation.
- Research and establish best practices in engineering methodologies and procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders on technical issues.
- Mentor entry-level engineers and ensure thorough engineering analysis across team efforts.
- Support creation of technical publications, functional specs, and service documentation.
- Other duties may be assigned and regular attendance is mandatory.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- Three (3) or more years of related experience.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with high-level CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX preferred; SolidWorks, AutoCAD MEP, Inventor, CATIA also acceptable).
- Experience with weldment and sheet metal design.
- Direct experience integrating software on PLC/HMI-controlled systems.
- Familiarity with Smartsheet for task assignment and reporting.
- Exposure to root cause/corrective action processes, CFD, FEA, and FMEA.
- Experience supporting compliance testing (UL/ETL, CE, MIL-STDs, CISPR 25, ISO 11452).
- Project management or product development experience (3+ years).
- Must be able to pass a TSA Background Check

Pay Range:
$82,000.00 - $132,800.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
