Job Description:
The Construction Administrator is responsible for supporting the Construction Management program at Cal Water through communications, reporting and tracking and policy execution and development. Responsibilities will depend on the applicants experience with construction administration and the water industry. This position is located in Torrance, CA.Essential Job Functions:
Reporting and tracking projects as they transition from the Bidding phase to the Construction phase
Onboarding construction managers to projects
Setting up construction phase project files
Reporting and tracking project costs during the construction phase.
Administrating the Lessons Learned process as part of project close out
Financial close out of projects on companys management software
Reporting and information gathering for standard and ad-hoc reports for Cal Water internal use
Supports close out activities for projects
Forecasts and reports to CM firms on upcoming projects
Use of applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications to generate presentations and reporting
Supports project accounting in Peoplesoft
Qualifications/Requirements:
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent
Previous experience in the water industry is preferred
Valid California Driver License
Knowledge/Ability:
Ability to research, interpret, and analyze information and problems, evaluate alternatives, and derive trends, sound conclusions, and recommendations
Proficient with Powerplan, Peoplesoft, Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project Online, and Smartsheet, MSPO
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications to create spreadsheets, presentations, and Word documents including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint
Basic knowledge of construction project execution and management
Basic knowledge of water or wastewater systems and assets
Basic knowledge of water industry operations and facilities
Ability to understand and write policies, procedures, and instructions
Must be well organized and able to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
Ability to communicate well with others, both verbally and in writing
Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines
Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated excellence in customer service practices and telephone communication etiquette
Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Exercises good judgment to prioritize assignments and work in order of urgency and sensitivity
Participates in the development of long-range vision, mission, and strategic planning processes for the Capital Delivery
Salary Range: $44.23 - $59.67
