Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and driven Assistant Project Manager (APM) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction, including public works projects, and at least 3 years in an APM or Project Coordinator role. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of construction operations, project documentation, and construction finance. This role supports the Project Manager in executing all phases of construction and is critical to project success.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager in managing all phases of construction, from preconstruction through closeout
Assist in budgeting, cost tracking, and subcontractor invoicing
Coordinate submittals, RFIs, change orders, and schedule updates
Help manage project schedules and procurement timelines
Maintain organized and up-to-date project records and logs
Work closely with field staff to support site operations
Participate in owner/architect/contractor meetings and prepare meeting minutes
Ensure compliance with public works and prevailing wage requirements
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction
At least 3 years as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Coordinator
Proven experience with public works and prevailing wage projects
Strong understanding of construction finance, budgets, and cost tracking
Proficiency in reading plans, specs, and contracts
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
Familiarity with California building codes and inspection protocols
Valid CA Drivers License and reliable transportation
