What you’ll do as a Telecom Construction Manager
- Plan, assign, direct and evaluate the work of personnel engaged in the construction, installation, maintenance and operation of complex telecommunications systems and related support items.
- Develop and establish processes and procedures for installation, testing and maintenance of equipment based on OEM and Telcordia specifications, as well as Pro-Tel requirements.
- Analyze and determine manpower requirements.
- Perform periodic inspections of telecommunications facilities and equipment to determine compliance with established standards, specifications, instructions, and Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations.
- Direct field and special tests to determine efficiency, adequacy, durability and desirability of equipment in relation to service demands.
- Prepare a weekly staff report for all active installation technicians.
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- Advanced knowledge of computer skills including, but not limited to: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google office applications, Google Mail, miscellaneous web-based programs and general file structure.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in designing, constructing, installing, maintaining and operating a variety of telephone, radio, microwave and other communications systems and of standard testing devices for such equipment.
- Knowledge of the common sources of trouble in telecommunications equipment and lines.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations relative to the installation and operation of radio and other communications systems.
- Knowledge of the hazards of working on or near energized lines and equipment and of necessary safety precautions.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel management and supervision.
- Knowledge of project organization management and control.
- Skill in planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating the work of personnel engaged in the construction, installation, repair, maintenance and operation of electronic communications systems.
- Ability to analyze problems quickly and accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
- Ability to prepare budgets and cost estimates.
- Ability to review or check the work products of others to ensure conformance to standards
- Ability to define priorities
- Ability to resolve and minimize recurring problems
Work environment
- May have to travel to job sites with overnight stay
- Must be able to attend seminars upon request
- Must be able to work a minimum of 50 hours per week including nights, and weekends as required
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and in climate weather.

- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Required education and experience
- 5 years telecommunications experience in telecommunications installation
- 3 years’ experience as a site lead or combination of a college degree and experience equaling 5 years.
