Abatement workers remove asbestos and other contaminants from residential and commercial structures during demolition and reconstruction. This position involves cleaning and demolition labor activities, including containment.
Schedule: Monday through Friday (Sat if needed), Morning Shift (10- hour shifts)
Pay: $22-24 (depends on experience)
Have a least 40 hours training in Asbestos Awareness
Duties
Constructing containment areas prior to beginning abatement or decontamination work.
Removing hazardous building materials from surfaces, structures, or equipment using hand or power tools.
Cleaning work areas, tools and equipment.
Loading or unloading materials or waste into containers or onto trucks
Qualifications
Preferred experience in the building trades, especially demolition, water mitigation, or mold remediation.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to work in confined areas in extreme temperatures.
Ability to perform heavy physical work over prolonged periods.
Ability to comprehend and follow the safety procedures required to handle asbestos-containing materials.
Ability to work in safety clothing and respiratory equipment is required
Ability to use the tools, materials and equipment used in general construction work.
Must be able to pass a physical examination as required by state and federal regulations at the time of appointment.
Must possess an Asbestos Worker II or Supervisor Certification or Asbestos Awareness Cert, Respirator fitted and physical clearance.
