## Engineering Construction Inspector

The City of Bristol, VA is seeking a dedicated Engineering Construction Inspector with our Public Works department to join in our efforts in supporting the daily operation of local City government. This position reports to the City Engineer and assists in the inspection of construction of City infrastructure to ensure compliance with City requirements.

Duties include, but not limited to, consulting with the City Engineer to resolve design and construction problems. Providing information and technical assistance to the public, contractors, and City staff members and alerts City Engineer to potential construction issues and other concerns. Conducting pre-construction and other construction related meetings.

Successful applicants will have knowledge of engineering, surveying, and mapping principles and the ability to read architectural and engineering drawings.

Other requirements for the position vary based on the 3 levels for this position:

- Level I minimum requirements: high school diploma (GED); supplemented by a minimum of 1-year of infrastructure construction inspection and/or repair projects or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which would provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Working knowledge of City and State construction standards and obtain and maintain all VDOT and VaDEQ construction and material related certifications.

- Level II minimum requirements: in addition to Level I minimum requirements, obtain and maintain the NASSCO Pipeline Assessment Certification, the NASSCO Lateral Assessment Certification, and the NASSCO Manhole Assessment Certification. The minimum level of experience is 5-years of infrastructure construction inspection and/or repair projects or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which would provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

- Level III minimum requirements: in addition to Level I and Level II minimum requirements, obtain and maintain the APWA Certified Public Inspector certification. The minimum level of experience is 10-years of infrastructure construction inspection and/or repair projects or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which would provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
