West Sound Workforce is assisting a respected, family-owned surveying firm in Gig Harbor in their search for a CAD Drafter to join their close-knit team. With over 40 years of experience in boundary resolution, topographic mapping, and land surveying services, this veteran-owned company is known for its technical precision, collaborative approach, and outstanding client care.
Reporting to a team of licensed land surveyors and industry experts, the CAD Drafter will support a variety of land surveying projects by producing clean, accurate, and professional deliverables. This is an excellent opportunity for a drafter with architectural, mechanical, or structural drafting experience who is eager to expand their skills into civil and survey-specific work. **Shift information:**
- Monday-Friday 7am-4pm
**What you will do as a CAD Drafter:**
- Produce and revise precise 2D technical drawings in AutoCAD for a variety of surveying projects
- Organize and manage drawing elements; layers, blocks, dimensions, and annotations while working within X, Y, Z coordinate systems
- Ensure all deliverables meet professional drafting standards for clarity, accuracy, and presentation
- Partner closely with surveyors and engineers to translate field data into clean, client-ready maps and documents
- Occasionally visit job sites to gain firsthand insight into project conditions and support real-world application of your drafting work
**What we are looking for:**
- 1--3 years of experience in CAD drafting, ideally in architectural, mechanical, or structural design; civil or survey drafting is a plus
- Proficiency in AutoCAD with exposure to Civil 3D or other tools like Revit or MicroStation preferred
- Solid understanding of drafting fundamentals, including coordinate systems, geometry, and industry standards
- Eagerness to learn survey-specific workflows and contribute to a collaborative, field-savvy team
- Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and clear communication skills
