POSITION TITLE: Edge Band Machine Operator (Desking) FLSA: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Chris Phelps DATE: 2025 Updated SHIFT: 3rd Shift

FUNCTION:

An edge banding machine operator is responsible for operating equipment that applies edge banding materials (usually PVC, wood veneer, or melamine) to the exposed edges of panels (often particleboard, MDF, or plywood) to create a finished appearance and improve durability.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Set up and operate edge banding machines.
  • Read and interpret labels of the parts.
  • Load panels and edge banding materials; monitor machine throughput.
  • Inspect finished panels for quality control, identifying and correcting defects.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Ensure glue application, trimming, scraping, and buffing are performed to specification.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Document production output and report equipment malfunctions.
