Collins has an opening for a Construction Inspector/Senior Technician in our Salt Lake City, Utah office. This role offers the chance to work industry leaders on bridge inspection for UDOT while using innovative technology. This position will provide the opportunity for growth, where continuing development and participation in professional societies will be encouraged and supported. The Construction Inspector/Senior Technician is an integral part of the construction management team and will work under the guidance of the Project Leader.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducting inspections, scheduling, and oversight of heavy highway structural projects.
- Solve technical problems and steward solutions through the delivery process.
- Responsible for monitoring contractor conformance to quality, performance, and specifications for assigned construction activities.
- Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.
- Assists in the completion of reports.
- Keeps resident engineer informed of workload and any daily activities.
- Proactively interacts with the contractor to track crew work and equipment on the project.
- Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
- Field work required, which could include nights and weekends.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Relocation is available
The base salary will be estimated between $40 - $45 per hour plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- A 2-year technical degree or experience in trades. General engineering knowledge of staging, structural construction, electrical construction, utility construction, roadway construction, and bridge construction.
- Extensive use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and construction management databases/tracking software is required for this role.
- Ability to obtain certifications for material sampling/testing for aggregates, concrete, asphalt, grading, etc. (ACI, NICET, or state certifications)
- Ability to obtain certifications for inspection of roadways, bridges, coatings, etc. (NICET or state certifications)
- Valid driver's license.
