Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.\nA starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations\n

Nature of Work

The Equipment\nOperator I classification is based on the operation of various types of non-CDL\nequipment on a routine basis. The skills\nand knowledge required are of a level and scope to be in support of a journey, trades,\nor crafts person. Some positions will\nrequire the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending on\nthe location, assignment, or shift. Employees\nin this class operate vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver's\nLicense such as trucks, farm tractors, zero and turn mowers. Equipment Operator Is receive training on\nvarious pieces of CDL required equipment for future advancement to the\nEquipment Operator II classification.\n

Minimum Qualifications

One\n(1) year of experience as a laborer assisting in general trades using\nhand-tools and maintenance equipment. Requires\nskill to read slightly complex material such as operator manuals, perform\nsimple arithmetic, complete slightly complex forms and use tools and equipment.\n\n\nNOTE:\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\nknowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\n\n

Special Requirements

Some\npositions require the use of departmental vehicles on departmental\nbusiness. Individuals must be capable of\noperating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and acceptable\ndriving record. Some positions may afford the employee the occasional opportunity to\noperate equipment requiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for training\npurposes.\n

Kind of Examination
