Mechanic II Job Description The Mechanic II is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment of the fleet of Truss Drivers, customized drill rigs utilizing automation and controls specifically designed for installing foundations for utility-scale solar farms. The role involves utilizing quality control analysis to evaluate performance while ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Responsibilities Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment. Maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery. Complete preventive and unscheduled maintenance of Truss Drivers and support equipment. Perform on-site metal fabrication as needed. Provide support to customer mechanics as required. Reassemble equipment following inspections, testing, or repairs. Operate newly repaired machinery to verify repair adequacy. Record repairs and maintenance performed. Test mechanical products and equipment post-repair to ensure performance compliance with manufacturers' specifications. Conduct routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating equipment. Read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings. Diagnose faults using engine diagnostic equipment. Collaborate with Machine Development, Product Development, and Field Applications Engineering teams. Recognize and report safety concerns promptly. Continuously learn and improve personal skillsets. Document equipment issues and repairs, including hours, parts used, and travel. Essential Skills Proficiency in diesel, Cummins, and Cat engines. Experience with hydraulics, heavy equipment, and troubleshooting. Understanding of mechanical and pneumatic systems. Knowledge of diagnostic testing, drill rig operation, and repair. Ability to perform preventive maintenance. Experience with encoders, CANBUS, and equipment diagnostics. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma/GED required. Technical diploma or Tradesperson certification is a plus. Up to 5 years of construction/jobsite experience. Experience with heavy machinery, particularly drill rigs, is a plus. Previous experience troubleshooting hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems. Experience with controls such as encoders, CANBUS, linear transducers, and PLC. Welding and fabrication skills.
